Fire Season is upon us. We have a critical need for volunteers. We will be sharing opportunities where you can make an impact on those who need it most.  Those affected by disaster.   Volunteers carry out 90% of the humanitarian work of the Red Cross. Whether helping one displaced family or thousands, providing comfort and care to an ill or injured service member or veteran, or teaching others how to respond in emergencies, it’s through the efforts of ordinary people that we can do extraordinary things. The Red Cross responds to an emergency effort every 8 minutes, and our vital work is only possible because of people like you.

1. Participants will identify steady state vs. operational state
2. Participants will learn of volunteer opportunities
3. Participants will learn what it is like volunteering with Red Cross as a Disaster Mental health professional.
4. Participants will learn how to become a Red Cross volunteer.

Erin is a Disaster Program Manager for the Red Cross in San Bernardino County. She is well connected with the emergency management community in San Bernardino County. She has experience in managing small and large disaster events. She has emergency background experience in all phases of preparedness, response, mitigation, and recovery. Her strength as a collaborative partner with her colleagues in the community help our clients recover from disasters quicker. Before coming to the Red Cross, she had extensive experience working with volunteers through the Community Emergency Response Team. She brought that experience to the Red Cross organization and with her team, has grown the program from 50 volunteers to 175 volunteers with a 98% engagement rate.
