Mindful Choices for Well-Being


This presentation is for you if you want to live with more self-awareness and greater self-management skills. This presentation is for you if you want a fuller, richer, happier and healthier life where you consistently make conscious and values-driven choices. We view the essence of a great life as growing systematically in self-awareness and self-management. Would you like to “become mindfully aware, make great choices, and turn those great choices into powerful and positive habits?

This presentation brings together tools and strategies from several disciplines and utilizes cutting-edge research from the neuroscience of habit change. You will learn and practice healthy coping skills. You will learn skills to improve your personal and professional relationships and achieve long-term emotional growth. We invite you to imagine your ideal future self.

You will learn:

the case for therapists practicing excellent self-care

the meaning of emotional intelligence, mindfulness, and well-being

what well-being for therapists looks like

• how to apply mindfulness skills in daily life and professionally

how to cultivate strengths and new ways of being, utilizing the Mindful Choices model

how to maintain psychological flexibility, resilience, and well-being

Inland Empire Chapter of CAMFT is a CAMFT Approved CEU Provider Agency  Provider # 62278

CEU Hours: This course meets the qualifications for 2 hours of continuing education credit for LMFTs, LCSWs, LPCCs, and LEPs as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences

Certificates: Completion certificates will be awarded at the conclusion of the training and upon participant’s submission of his or her completed evaluation.

Refund Policy:  If a participant is unable to attend and notifies IE-CAMFT 24 hours in advance of the training, full reimbursement will be sent within ten (10) working days.

Grievance:  If any aspect of the training is not to the full satisfaction of any participant, please notify the coordinator, CEU committee chair, or another IE-CAMFT board member.  We hope to resolve any issue immediately on-site.  If not resolved, the full IE-CAMFT board will review and resolve the issue.

IE-CAMFT wishes all participants to have an excellent learning experience.  Please notify the coordinator or other board member if you need special accommodations.  If possible, call Garry Raley at (951) 640-5899 in advance

Presenter Non-Appearance Policy

In the unlikely event that a scheduled presenter does not appear for a scheduled event, the following steps will be used to remediate inconvenience to attendees:

An announcement will be made to inform everyone that CEU credits cannot be provided due to inability to meet CAMFT standards for advance notice, etc.

The meeting will be held.  Attendees will be encouraged to participate for the purpose of professional development.

If an attendee has paid for the seminar, s/he will receive either a full refund or credit for a future presentation.

If the topic will be repeated at a later time, notice of the date and time will be provided to all interested parties.

At Our Last Meeting . . . 

CAMFT Update: State of the Profession

 

Nabil El-Ghoroury, Ph.D.

 


Summary:   

Nabil El-Ghoroury, PhD, CAE, presented an update on the current status of state and federal legislation affecting licensed marriage and family therapists. This session covered state and federal legislation that could impact LMFT practice. In addition, this session addressed regulatory topics from the Board of Behavioral Sciences. Finally, this session discussed resources for legal consultation regarding legal and ethical practice that CAMFT provides to its members.

Learning Objectives:  

1)      Learn about at least 3 pending legislations and how marriage and family therapists may be impacted by the bills.

2) Identify 1 resource for legal consultation for therapists.

Bio:

Nabil El-Ghoroury began as Executive Director of CAMFT in January 2018. He completed his doctorate in clinical psychology from Binghamton University, and practiced for 7 years at MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland as a licensed psychologist. Prior to coming to CAMFT, he was an Associate Executive Director for the American Psychological Association, where he served as the director of the graduate student office. Nabil was recognized as an emerging association leader by the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) when he was invited into the Diversity Executive Leadership Program (2016-2018 class). He has presented at numerous conferences (in English and in Spanish) on issues such as student development in psychology, professional and legal issues in the use of social media, and health/educational disparities in autism spectrum disorders. Nabil led student delegations on Capitol Hill for 8 years. He recently earned the Certified Association Executive (CAE) credential, a certification that demonstrates wide knowledge of association management skills.


President's Message: 


This is Carol Rose Adkisson, your newly-elected IE-CAMFT ChapterPresident.  Thank you for entrusting me to lead our organization intothis new season.  I hope that along with our newly-elected board wewill bring a fresh new perspective to our new positions.  My visionis to grow IE-CAMFT to the next level.  I have no doubt this isattainable.  Like all of us in our new positions, I am grateful tohave our predecessors passing down their experience and knowledge.  Lookfor new marketing techniques, amazing education, and growth in ourfuture.  The sky is the limit and limitless possibilities can only bea good thing.
