Scents & Scents-Ability: Using Essential Oils in Clinical Practice

Lisa Ann Tobler, MFTI

If you were looking for a holistic way to positively impact the well-being of your clients, this presentation fit the bill.  Ms. Tobler introduced us to the use of essential oils to promote emotional well-being. We learned which oils to use, why essential oils actually DO help people to improve their well-being, and how they can be used to help our clients to feel better naturally. This presentation discussed the use of essential oils and how using essential oils can provide clinicians with an additional tool to help clients to heal.

1. Participants learned how essential oils affect the brain and emotional well-being.

2.   Participants learned which oils to use for emotional well-being.

3.   Participants learned how to use essential oils safely.

4.    Participants learned how to incorporate the use of essential oils in clinical practice.

Lisa Tobler is a Marriage and Family Therapist-Intern and an Essential Oils Educator. Lisa has been working in the field of mental health for over 20 years. Lisa currently works with teens, adults and couples, and specializes in helping individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, grief and trauma. She has completed training in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT), Trauma Focused CBT {TFCBT}, and Cognitive Behavioral Interventions for Trauma in Schools {CB/TS}. Lisa has been an online college instructor for nearly 12 years.

We also had our First Annual Authors' Gathering in November

We were proud to welcome both authors and program providers to display information on their products, (books, CEU training, etc.) who also were available to show and sign their books and products. We were excited to see the body of work our local clinicians are producing. It was a very enjoyable and informative event.

From the President: My Advice this Holiday Season:  KNOW YOUR CHRISTMAS CAROLS!!

I just received as a present a ceramic cup listing "O Holy Night" and "Shepherds Flocked At The Sight".  It refers  not to a Bible verse but to the words of the song "Silent Night," which include "Shepherds Quaked At The Sight." But no Shepherds Flocked.  Does this mean shepherds cuddling together with the sheep?  Maybe.  It is listed as made in China, so perhaps the translation was lacking.  Well, here's  to flocking!!

Merry Christmas!! Hope you IE-CAMFT members will join us for the Holiday Party on December 9th, Saturday at 6pm.

Janetta Peltz
IE-CAMFT President
