Interview with Patrick Poor

ACCESS A RECORDING OF THIS PRESENTATION

This presentation will provide a clinically oriented introduction to Trauma Conversion Therapy, theory and practice. We will discuss what are trauma disorders, how to recognize them, common ways people cope with them, and what is curative in treating them. We will have an experiential exercise in releasing old emotional pain, and we will call on the wisdom of Bessel van der Kolk, MD, and Colin Ross, MD. Dissociative disorders are not well understood or treated by most psychotherapists, yet they contribute to most DSM diagnoses. This will give you a tool to improve treatment outcomes. Resources for further learning will be provided.

Objectives:

1. Attendees will understand the theoretical foundations supporting Trauma Conversion Therapy
2. Participants will learn to recognize often overlooked Dissociative symptoms
3. Participants will be able to identify five (5) common ways people cope with trauma
4. Paticipants will do an experiential exercise to learn a technique to “release old pain”
