Happy Spring!
In my yard the signs of spring are everywhere. My fruit trees have small fruit and some flowers, and my roses are happily producing an abundance of blooms. The butterflies are dancing around the yard and the finches sing to me each morning as I eat my breakfast on my patio. I truly enjoy the spring time. In my practice I help those with anxiety, and we often talk about being mindful and just “sitting in the moment.” Sometimes it’s hard for my clients to accomplish this task; however, I continue to remind them that it’s progress, not perfection, which is our journey in life. I know that I too am not always as mindful as I should be. My practice demands my attention, as does my family and friends, and my own self-imposed “shoulds.”
My gratitude continues for the remarkable therapists from our community I get to meet and with whom I get to collaborate each month. I am always struck how each of you shines your light and opens your heart each day to clients in need. Again I want to thank you for your service to our community. I also want to thank Keyvan Geula who has graciously donated a camcorder to our chapter so we may record our presentations (with permission) and later post them to our CAMFT website. The board has been discussing for months how to continue to bring more value to the members of our chapter. Each month we have wonderful speakers who are subject matter experts and who share their insights with us. However, occasionally life gets in our way and we can’t make it to the meeting. It is the hope of the board that this would offer another alternative and would also allow for each of us to go back and listen again if we wish. At the present time we won’t be able to provide CEUs for the videos, but hopefully we may in the future.
Another change I would like to highlight is having network time after our regular monthly presentation. Currently, we had that time set up for 8:30 AM. This has not been particularly well attended. That may be due to the distance or traffic in getting to the meeting. So we thought let’s move the networking time from 11:00-11:30 AM. I really do not want any of you to miss out on the wealth of resources that each of you bring to the meeting.
The 3000 club continues to nurture our up-and-coming therapists and the presenters have also been of excellent quality. The next presentation will be by Lynn Flewelling on dream tending with clients on Saturday 28, 2016 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. The address is 6840 Indiana Ave., Suite 275, Riverside, CA 92506. All are welcome.
Until next time,
Sherry
