Advocacy in Action — Sacramento Recap
We are proud to share that our very own Susan Lowe, LMFT represented IE-CAMFT at Advocacy Day in Sacramento on March 12.
Susan joined over 75 members
from California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists to meet
with legislators and advocate for key issues impacting our profession.
A major focus was SB 903,
a bill addressing the role of Artificial Intelligence in mental health
care (co-sponsored by CAMFT, National Association of Social Workers, and
American Psychological Association).
This legislation aims to:
Ensure that AI tools and chatbots are not misrepresented as therapy
Reinforce that mental health care cannot replace human clinicians
Support ethical innovation and workforce development
We
are grateful to Susan for representing our chapter and advocating for
both clinicians and the communities we serve. (See attachments for more
information.)
