The BBS, Supervisees, and You: What You Need to Know About Changes to the Requirements

Randall Walker, LMFT

As a supervisor – or a pre-licensed therapist – it is challenging staying up with changes in rules and regulations concerning obtaining licensure as an MFT. This presentation and discussion will focus on what every supervisor and supervisee needs to know about recent changes, how this will impact training, and how to plan for the future.

Objectives: by the end of this presentation, participants will be able to

a.       Describe recent changes in laws and regulations affecting MFTs and supervision

b.      Recognize impact changes have on current and future supervisees

c.       Identify practical strategies for managing supervision relationship/s

d.      Identify resources for staying current while supervising

Randall Walker has been licensed as an MFT for over 25 years. He has extensive experience supervising clinicians in a variety of settings, including non-profit social service agencies, substance abuse treatment, and academic training settings. Randall is currently a faculty member at Loma Linda University where he directs the Counseling and Family Sciences Clinic located in the Behavioral Health Institute.
