ABOUT THE PRESENTER:

My name is Dr. Juan Gavidia, LMFT. I’m the founder of Cicada Therapy & Consulting, a private practice that demystifies the experience of marginalization and alienation that have led to many of our social ills and mental suffering. I am also an adjunct professor at Pepperdine University for the Master’s in Clinical Psychology program. I have been a member of the CAMFT State Board since 2020. During my tenure on the board, I played a pivotal role in advancing discussions on Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Accessibility, and Justice (DEIAJ), enhancing CAMFT's capacity to attract and retain a robust pipeline of aspiring clinicians and future leaders within our field. My unwavering commitment to fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion has been a cornerstone of my contributions to CAMFT and extends throughout my professional and personal endeavors. During my time at CAMFT, I have served on various committees, including the DEI+ committee, external affairs committee, scope of practice committee, strategic planning committee, and social policy committee, which has provided me with invaluable opportunities to drive meaningful change and champion initiatives that promote inclusivity and justice for all.
