Numerous California bills have been passed since 2006 that require health care plans and insurers to pay for telehealth services in lieu of in-person treatment. However, some plans continue to misinterpret the law and refuse to pay for telehealth services.
CAMFT needs your help to force the plans to adhere to the law! If you have received a denial for payment based on your services being provided via telehealth (versus in person), we want to hear from you! The success of this grassroots effort is dependent on the feedback we receive from the membership by March 10, 2014.
Please email the following information to Cathy Atkins, Deputy Executive Director:
- Name of health care plan or insurer
- Type of service
- General date
- Any stated reason as to “why” your claim was denied
Thank you for your help!

Deputy Executive Director
